CARKI

Digital Car Dealership

An online bidding system for car dealers to bid for second-hand cars, as well as for users to estimate how much car ownership would cost in Singapore.

Scope
Car auction web application and lead gen
system (MVP 1 is out, MVP 2 WIP)
Year

PROBLEM STATEMENT

How might we avoid being charged a premium on the bid price for cars and provide favourable loans to customers?

USER RESEARCH

After an initial round of user interviews and user research (qualitative), we realised that this website (service) needs to serve 2 distinct sets of customers: car dealers (B2B) and used car buyers (B2C).

There was an additional stakeholder involved which are the owners of the dealerships who may sometimes act as a consortium.

PRODUCT DESIGN

  • Information Architecture
  • User Flows
  • Wireframing
  • High fidelity prototyping

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

To resolve the problem statement and help find product-market fit, we looked to combine elements of a lead generation system with a B2B auctioneering system in order to cater to the different sets of customers.

RESULTS: TRANSPARENT AUCTIONS, BETTER PRICES

Through this software, car dealers were able to find deals faster, reduce the costs paid for each car and pass on those cost savings to their customers.

CRYPTO TRADING PLATFORM

Creating a gamified user interface for traders to be engaged while using the platform to trade cryptos.

Scope
iOS, Android App
Year
2020
Industry
Finance/Crypto

One of the major challenges in the crypto industry is the range of undifferentiated product offerings in terms of trading. With so many exchanges and trading platforms to choose from, it can be difficult to retain users and to grow the user base.

Part of the work that was undertaken to differentiate the Overbit trading interface from its peers was the gamification of the platform, introduction of a tier-points reward system where traders would be rewarded according to their loyalty and trade sizing.

Integrating a badge system with a Pavlovian model of random rewards and airdrops, traders would find the experience much more engaging after the Rewards Hub was developed.

The iOS and Android mobile application were developed for this project.

MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT

When developing the mobile app for Overbit, we wanted to achieve the following business goals:

– Reduce friction between users and the interface
– Increase ease of trading (minimise steps between selecting markets and initiating buy / sell orders)
– Increase user growth
– Reduce churn rates
– Create a technological moat through convenience and ease of access

We streamlined the order flow, creating a lean and efficient method of selecting cryptocurrency pairs, indicating the size of the order and confirming the order. It is especially important on margin trading platforms like Overbit not to overcomplicate the trading interface.

GAMIFICATION

We also wanted to retain users and keep them coming back for more through the implementation of a Rewards Hub. Features such as Lucky Spin (wheel of fortune) were designed and implemented.

This helped to increase user retention by nearly tenfold. Other features such as airdrops (randomised rewards) also helped to create a truly unique crypto trading experience.
